One of my favorite parts of living in New England is how many clients I’ve met from other states. Even though I am based out of Massachusetts, I often get clients who drive to me from southern New Hampshire. I’m always honored when they choose me as their Southern NH newborn photographer since I know making a long drive with a baby isn’t always an easy task!
The key to a successful newborn session is a sleepy baby. Sometimes when clients have longer drives, baby spends a lot of time asleep in their car seat. This can mean an awake baby for part (or all) of the session. I got really lucky with this sweet girl since she slept like a rock the entire time! Even after having a good snooze in the car. I was able to do certain poses, like the froggy pose above, which I typically reserve for super sleepy babies since they require more time.
I loved the neutral, pink and purple color palette her parents chose for this session. She would have looked good in anything, but these colors really complemented her delicate features so well!
So what kinds of things should you be looking for in a Southern NH newborn photographer? Experience is most important. I have worked with hundreds of newborns throughout my career and am proficient with posing babies comfortably and safely. Style is another factor to consider. These portraits will be displayed in your home and passed down as your baby grows. Make sure you love the portfolio of whomever you choose to photograph your baby. I would describe my style as classic and simple – I try not to over-do it with props and accessories so the focus of the image is always your baby.
