I mentioned in my last post how much fun it is for me to have families come back for their second (or third!) baby’s newborn photos. Not only to I get to see how much their first child has grown and changed, I also get to create something special for their newest addition. A lot had changed when this family contacted me for their second baby’s photos. The first time we met I was still a traveling photographer and I distinctly remember photographing their daughter in their kitchen pressed up against their patio door. It was SUPER dark that morning because we had severe thunderstorms rolling through the area. This time around things were a little more calm, a little less dark, and a lot more interesting since I now had to add a toddler into the mix 😉
This sweet boy gave me several sleepy poses before he woke up right at the end of the session. I didn’t mind one bit because he made the best eye contact! If you’re wondering how I got this sleepy guy to cooperate for the photo with his sister I’m going to let you in on a little secret and it’s called “composite.” This is my backup plan when I have a sibling in the studio who has other ideas (i.e. does not want to sit and pose for photos). I let little miss play with this cute carraige prop while mom fed her baby brother. Then we had her go out in the hall and play with dad while I put baby in the stroller by himself and snapped a few shots. After a little creative photoshop work I was able to merge 2 images together to create the final image which mom absolutely loved. It takes extra work and skill, but baby’s safety is always my number one priority!
