One of my favorite things to do as a baby photographer in Ipswich MA is create those “full circle” moments with my clients. This handsome guy was part of my “Baby’s First Year” plan, which documents all of the important milestones from newborn to first birthday. His mom opted to add a maternity session on to this collection as well. Her maternity photos were some of my absolute favorites, and are featured on my portfolio page if you want to take a look!
When we started planning her son’s first birthday session, I had the idea to take us back to the same location where we did her maternity session. The end result did not disappoint! We had a beautiful evening for his session.
It can be tricky to plan an outdoor session if your baby has a summer birthday. The ideal time for scheduling outdoor photos is about an hour before sunset – known as “the golden hour.” This timing can be tricky for little ones. In the summer, sunset can go as late as 8:30pm. Thankfully this guy was all smiles despite the late start time. We added a bit of whimsy to his session with this fun “hot air balloon” inspired setup to kick things off.
Later, we moved on to some family portraits. I am often asked if family photos can be incorporated into milestone sessions and the answer is yes! I am always happy to include these photos as part of your session. This is where the “full circle” moments came in. Mom wore one of the same dresses she had on for her maternity photos. How fun to have these images to display side by side one day!
As the sun began to set, we wrapped up with portraits of just baby and one of his stuffed pals. I love incorporating special items into your session to make the photos even more memorable. Bringing a special toy or stuffed animal is also a great way to keep baby entertained!
