When you choose to book a session with a Marblehead newborn photographer like me, I’ll style the session to your liking. A lot of times parents tell me what colors they want me to use and that’s it. But sometimes clients have more specific requests. Even though classic newborn photos include what I call “bare baby” photos, my clients preferred to have their baby covered for most of the session.
In order to accommodate my client’s request, I used a cute little pant & hat set and also got creative with wraps. Baby stays covered while still being able to showcase their adorable features (and rolls – you can’t forget about the rolls!)
Once I grab a couple of poses on my beanbag (the posing surface I use for newborns), I move on to swaddled and prop photos. Newborns LOVE being swaddled, so this is typically my go-to for babies who need that little extra nudge to go to sleep. Thankfully, this guy was already pretty sleepy, so swaddling just made him extra cozy. His mom requested green as one of her preferred colors which I absolutely love. It’s such a fantastic neutral.
My absolute favorite setup of the bunch was this one with the teddy bonnet and tiny bear. Who can resist a baby in a bear bonnet? And with a matching teddy bear to boot! It doesn’t get more adorable than this.
With baby swaddled and cozy, I can easily transition them into other props such as baskets, bowls, and my personal favorite – the bucket. It’s by far my most used prop. In fact, I have returning clients that specifically request the “bucket pose” for their new babies because it was their absolute favorite shot from their first baby’s newborn session. I will always happily oblige!
