Have I mentioned before how much I LOVE this age? (Probably about 100 times by now!) The six to seven month milestone is my absolute favorite and SO many parents skip it and do 1 year sessions instead. Let me tell you why you should never skip this milestone: rolls. And gummy smiles. And cubby cheeks. At this age your baby should be able to sit unassisted without crawling – this is key, because once a baby is mobile it’s game over. But the “sitter” stage is super easy because you really just plunk baby down in one spot and start shooting.
The range of expressions you can capture at this age is awesome. Of course, everyone loves the toothless smiles (or even better when those first 2 bottom teeth have popped through!), but I also love the serious faces, too. You know, the same expressions she’ll be flashing you when she’s 16 and you tell her she can’t have the keys to your car 😉
So this is my plea to you – don’t skip this milestone! Don’t convince yourself you don’t need 6 month photos. You do. Everyone does. You’ll be sad you missed this milestone when your 1 year old is running away from the camera. Trust me. I’ve been there enough times to know that’s always how it goes!

Milestone sessions are such a fun way to document your baby’s budding personality! Typically scheduled between 6 months and 12 months of age, these sessions can take place outdoors at a location of your choosing or in the studio. Â There’s no better way to celebrate your baby’s first smile, when they learned to sit up or crawl, or their first birthday than with a special portrait session. Family members can be included in these sessions as well. Parents are often hidden behind the camera, but I always encourage moms and dads to take advantage of this opportunity and be in photos with their child. Clients who book a Milestone Session with Julie Freitas Photography also gain access to the studio’s adorable baby wardrobe. Take the guesswork out of choosing that perfect outfit for your session!
