Every now and then I have a baby come in to the studio who doesn’t make a single peep. As a Saugus Newborn Photographer I have had this happen more than a few times! I was able to get through every single pose and setup with him in a very short amount of time.
You might be wondering what happens if baby doesn’t sleep. The trick I use is always to wrap them up nice and snug! Newborns love being swaddled because it helps them feel safe and secure. Usually after a good feeding, a nice snug swaddle will put them right to sleep. I can get several different setups achieved when baby is fully swaddled – either in a prop or on my posing surface.
Speaking of props, I always try to include at least two in every session. The bucket is my absolute favorite (and my clients love it, too!) Other props in my collection include baskets, bowls, and tiny beds.
Once baby is nice and sleepy, we move over to the beanbag where I can gently position them into a variety of different poses. I always like to shoot each pose with different angles and accessories. This gives parents lots of different options to choose from when they go to select their final portraits.
